Will I See My Pet In Heaven?

Is My Pet In Heaven?

The short answer is yes.
All animals go to Heaven.
I’m not talking about Pet Heaven or Rainbow Bridge.
Those are nice concepts but I believe that there is only one Heaven for people and animals alike and we will all be there together again someday.

Heaven is a wonderful place. So wonderful that we can’t even imagine how wonderful it is. Just imagine for a minute, the most awesome place you’ve ever been or seen pictures of… or even heard about. Forget about the old stereotype of angels sitting on a cloud and playing their harps all day. Heaven is a busy place with lots of fun things to do. And the fun never ends because there are no clocks in Heaven. Time doesn’t exist in Heaven. You won’t have to be in a hurry because you will have all eternity to do whatever you want to do. You can take your time and reminisce to your heart’s content. Won’t it be great to talk to grandpa again and even meet your great grandparents that you never knew here in this world. And won’t it be great to talk to the animals too. That’s right.. you can ask Duke just what he was thinking that time he chewed up your favorite slippers. And he will be able to answer you back, “Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.”

God’s original plan was that man and animals would live together peacefully forever. Read these passages from Genesis:

20 Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”

23 And evening passed and morning came, marking the fifth day.

24 Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened. 25 God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings[b] in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

27 So God created human beings[c] in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

29 Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. 30 And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened.

31 Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!

Guess what?
God doesn’t change.

He has always cared for the animals He created and He always will.

When God sent the flood, He made sure that the animals were saved too.  And when God made the covenent with Noah after the flood, the animals were included too. Please read these passages, also from Genesis:

8 Then God told Noah and his sons, 9 “I hereby confirm my covenant with you and your descendants, 10 and with all the animals that were on the boat with you—the birds, the livestock, and all the wild animals—every living creature on earth. 11 Yes, I am confirming my covenant with you. Never again will floodwaters kill all living creatures; never again will a flood destroy the earth.”

To us it seems like things are in a terrible mess but God sees from the beginning to the end and everything is just as He originally planned it.
We can’t even imagine how wonderful everything will be once we get free from these fleshly bodies and become part of the spiritual world of Heaven.
I like what Rev Billy Graham said about Heaven. “God will prepare everything for our perfect happiness in Heaven, and if it takes my dog being there, I believe he’ll be there.”
I used to worry about what happens when we die but now I have such a peace about it.
I actually believe that one day we will find out that all those who died before us were the lucky ones.

  1. I believe this is true. I met a man that had a near death experience. He had a major heart attack and was gone for quite some time before the doctors could revive him. While he was gone he had experienced the beautiful lights, the most incredible feeling of love that he had ever had. And just before returning to his body he was reunited with his beloved dog Syd, who had passed a couple years earlier. Syd give him a big kiss on the face just before returning to his body. I have gotten to know this gentleman over the years, and he is the real deal. We will be with our loving pets again one day.

    1. Thank you Jim for your comment. It gives me such a feeling of peace when I hear stories like this. I found a video on youTube recently where someone had put several stories like this together. I just tried to find it but couldn’t. I’ll keep looking and when I do find it I will post it on here. I would love to know someone personally who had an experience like this. But everything I know about God tells me that He will reunite us with our loved ones when we get to Heaven. I always like to quote Billy Graham when he said, “God will prepare everything for our perfect happiness in Heaven, and if it takes my dog being there, I believe he’ll be there.” Thanks again and God bless you. -Barry

      1. Barry, I am just now seeing your reply to my comment. I am very interested in being reunited with my beloved pets one day. And I do think that will happen. God is good and he knows our feelings towards our loved pets. The gentleman that I referred to in my story is now a friend on facebook. I met him through the Rainbow Bridge. A place I first visited in 2006 after I lost Jordan, my 14 year old Brittany and my heart dog. He is a huge dog lover as well. He posted the story that I spoke of on the Rainbow Bridge site in 2007. That is where I met him. There are a huge amount of pet lovers out there, and most may need a place like this to go to when they loose a pet.

  2. Hi Jim, Good to hear from you again. Nice to have someone let me know that they appreciate this site. I’ve been trying help others to first realize and then visualize the fact that this life is not the end… far from it. From the moment I created my first memorial picture of my dad and felt the peace of knowing that he was in Heaven with Jesus and that I would someday see him again, I have had a passion for sharing this feeling with others. And of course, it is only right, that God will have our animal friends there too. You might be interested in reading the book, “Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates” if you haven’t already. I found it to be very comforting and informative in regards to the Bible scriptures which support the fact that animals have souls and will be taken care of by God as he takes care of all of his creation. Thanks for writing. God bless-Barry.
