Every Good Dog Goes To Heaven?

Every Good Dog Goes To Heaven

Every good dog goes to Heaven is a saying I grew up with… or was it “Every Good Boy Deserves Favor”? Actually, it was both and I believe they are both true sayings. No, not really. The one that says,”every good dog goes to Heaven” is not exactly true. Not just good dogs go to Heaven. All dogs go to heaven.

Hey, that sounds like a great name for a movie. OH no, you mean someone already did that? How about “All Animals Go To Heaven”. That’s more like it. That’s what I’m going to name my movie.

You see, I believe that all animals will go to Heaven. But that’s not exactly correct either. I don’t really believe anyone is going to Heaven…not you, not me… No, not every good dog goes to Heaven, nobody is going to Heaven at all… Heaven is coming to us.

Jesus taught his disciples to pray,”Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven”. Heaven was originally on Earth. We refer to it now as “The Garden of Eden”. That was God’s original creation… the way he intended it to be. He created the Earth and all the animals and “It was good.” And he created man in his image and put him in charge of all the animals.

The animals could talk to us then. Did you ever notice in Genesis, when the serpent starts talking to Eve, she wasn’t at all surprised. Did she say, “OMG the animals can talk!”. No… she wasn’t surprised at all. She was obviously used to talking to the animals.

But unfortunately, Adam and Eve didn’t trust that God could provide everything that they needed and desired to see what they could do for themselves chose to disobey God. We’ve been living in the Kingdom of the world since that time. But eventually God decided to come back to Earth as Jesus and begin restoring the Earth to it’s original creation. He died for us to show us how to live for him. Eventually, when we all learn to love and serve others as Jesus loved and served us. Heaven will be restored on Earth… as it is in Heaven. And we will live here in the “Garden” once again with all our animals. And it will be “good”.

Seek And You Will Find The Kingdom Of God

Find Jesus and You Will Find the Kingdom of God

As I said in my second post, titled “What Is The Kingdom Of God“, the Kingdom of God first existed in the Garden of Eden. Since the fall of mankind, we have been living in the Kingdom of the World. We have been stuck in this world ever since.

It’s all most of us know. From the moment we left the bliss of the Kingdom of God we been fighting with each other to gain control of our destiny. Violence upon violence. War after war. Great empires have risen and fallen over and over again.

But something really amazing happened during the Roman Empire era. A poor Jewish peasant boy was born and somehow changed the world forever. However you feel about the historicity or the validity of the Bible, you cannot deny that the life of this one person, Jesus impacted the world like no one ever has before or since.

The Really Good News About Jesus

Even though there is much controversy among scholars because of the discrepancies found in the four Gospels (the first 4 books in the New Testament, also referred to as the “Good News”), no one can dispute the fact that Jesus performed numerous miracles and that he rose from the dead. He was seen by hundreds of people after being publicly executed.

I’m not going to go into all the evidence in this post but I will do that eventually. For now please click here for more information on the truth about Jesus.

Anyway, something really amazing happened when Jesus died on the cross and then rose again from the dead. This is the real “Good News”. By defeating death, Jesus defeat Satan. Satan was the one who got us kicked out of the Kingdom of God to begin with. By defeating Satan, Jesus began restoring the Kingdom of God on earth again.

Jesus is the example that we have to go by if we really want to “seek ye first the Kingdom of God.” The Kingdom of the World is still trying to conquer by using power over with wars and force and violence. But Jesus conquered by using power under… by serving and loving others even to the point of dying for others. Anywhere you find this kind of love… the love of Jesus… you will find the Kingdom of God.

Why I believe this Bible Verse of the Day

Why I believe this Bible Verse of the Day

To begin with, let’s continue with the first 4 verses of Luke as the Bible Verse of the Day. I feel I must state why I believe this Bible Verse of the Day. Why should we believe that Luke is giving us an accurate account of the Jesus story.

Actually, that brings up the question, “Why believe in anything in the Bible?” Well, first of all, I will tell you that I do believe it… now. I didn’t always believe this story however. I know many people who grew up with the story of Jesus and just accepted it. That was what their family believe and that is what they were taught in church. I kind of envy these people who can just take “a leap of faith” and just know that it is true. That’s just not the way I’m wired.

As a child, I went to church and was taught the Bible from a young age. When I got old enough to quit going to church… I quit. It wasn’t until I started going to church again in my 40s did I really hear the part about Jesus being God. It came as a real shock to me. This got my attention.

Is the Bible a Fantasy?

In addition, I had always thought of the Bible as sort of fantasy book along the lines of Greek mythology, except not quite as exciting. This conception came mostly from the stories in the Old Testament. You know the ones… Adam and Eve, Jonah and the whale, and the Tower of Babel, just to name a few.

But, after my revelation that Jesus was God, I decided to find out how much evidence there was that this was true. I was amazed to find out that the New Testament is one of the most documented historical manuscripts in existence. Historians have certain requirements that have to be adhered to in order to pass their rigorous testing for authenticity.

And not only that… even though historian scholars disagree on many areas of the “Jesus” story… none of them can deny the fact that Jesus performed miracles and that he rose from the dead.

I started thinking…”Hey, if Jesus rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of verifiable eye-witnesses… maybe I should listen to everything he had to say. In conclusion, that is why I believe this Bible verse of the day.

Seeking The Kingdom of God From the Inside Out

How can I seek The Kingdom of God From the Inside Out

First of all, do you know how to show people the Kingdom of God from the inside out? Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just escape this World and live exclusively in the Kingdom of God? That is exactly what many people attempt to accomplish once they have found some peace in their search for the Kingdom of God.

But you can’t really do that and still be an effective Christian influence on the Kingdom of the world. We must not lose our saltiness. We must not bury our heads in the sand in an effort to be unaffected by all the chaos going on around us.

On the other hand, as followers of Jesus were are not called to fix the people around us. We are called to love and serve them. Basically, it’s all about Jesus. It’s all about being more like him. Jesus never tried to “fix” people. Jesus was all about meeting people where they were at and loving them just as they were.

How did Jesus do the Kingdom?

Jesus saw a need and met that need. Jesus healed someone if they were sick. If people were hungry, Jesus fed them. If someone was out of wine at a wedding… Jesus made wine out of water! But Jesus never said, “Hey you have to stop your bad habits before I am going to help you.”

Jesus changed people from the inside out. And that is still the way he operates. All you have to do is invite him into your life… just the way you are. You don’t have to quit smoking or drinking or cussing or whatever first.

But when you feel the love of Jesus inside you something happens. Sometimes it happens immediately and other times it takes years, but it will happen… and it will happen from the inside out. Who else does that?

In conclusion, The “normal” way of attempting to “fix” someone is to start with the outside. This unfortunately includes most “Christians” that I know of in most churches. They think that you need to tell people how to fix their lives on the outside. If they can just get you to look like a Christian on the outside then you will be a Christian on the inside. But too many times, what you end up with is a church full of people who look good on the outside but are full of crap on the inside. They need to seek the Kingdom of God from the inside out.

Snugabunny Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer

Snugabunny Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer

The Snugabunny Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer is definitely a luxurious step up from the less expensive Geo-Meadow Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer. However, it can be confusing when you actually go to purchase one. If you look at Walmart, my number one go to place for everything, (please read my post “Where To Buy A Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer” for more information) you will have to pay over $20 more than the Prime (free shipping) option available at Amazon.this is a picture of the Snugabunny Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer

The Walmart Snugabunny is $57.99 while one of the Amazon options is only $43.99. Shopping on Amazon can be really confusing although it is my number two go to place to buy anything and everything. You could pay as much as $87 on Amazon if you buy it from another seller. I explained in my previous post, “Where Else To Buy Your Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer“, if you start shopping at Amazon very much at all, you will find that it is well worth it to become an “Amazon Prime” member. It’s a hundred dollars a year but it doesn’t take long to recoup that hundred dollars when you start taking advantage of Amazon’s free 2 day shipping option for most items. The Fisher-Price Snugabunny Baby Bouncer is a great example of this value.

But, what if your child doesn’t like this Bouncer? Not very likely. I read all the reviews on Walmart and Amazon and this scenario didn’t happen very often but it is a possibility.

Always Read the Reviews

The main complaints I found on both sites were concerning the battery powered sound/music/vibration device. Apparently the batteries don’t last, are hard to replace and sometimes the device just fails. If your child (or grandchild) just doesn’t like this model, you are going to want to exchange it for a different model. If the sound/music/vibration device malfunctions, you will want to be able to take it back and get another one that works.

I believe that, in the case of changing batteries, some people are just more mechanically inclined and know that name brand high quality batteries last much longer than the cheaper ones. In any case, it may be advantageous to buy your Baby Bouncer from your local Walmart.

Amazon also offers free returns for most of there items but it is definitely much more of a pain to to ship something back to Amazon than it is to take it back to Walmart… but is it worth $20? But in conclusion, after reading so many positive reviews on the Snugabunny Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer, I think I would take a chance that my child or grandchild would be very happy with it and that it would prove to be a great investment for the six months or so that your loved one will be using it.

Two Dogs Go To Heaven Memorial Picture

Two Dogs Go To Heaven

Hello and thanks for visiting my “Labor of Love” site “Do Dogs Go To Heaven?”. If this is your first visit to “Do Dogs Go To Heaven?”,  I must warn you that this site is quite eclectic. You never know what you might happen upon here. This post will feature my pet memorial picture called, “Two Dogs Go To Heaven”. I started this site in the hopes of reaching out to people who might be suffering from the heartache of pet-loss. Unfortunately, this is a subject that I am all too familiar with, having lost my beloved friend Sammy just this last September. I miss him very much. We were close friends for 15 years. But I’m not worried about Sammy. I worry about me more than Sammy. You see, he’s the lucky one. I wrote a song about it. Goes like this:
I know you’re the lucky one.
You’re up in Heaven having all kinds of fun.
While I’m down here feeling lonely and glum.
I know you’re the lucky one.
Well, that’s how the chorus goes anyway. I’ll put it on this site in it’s entirety when I get it recorded someday. By the way, I did record an album back in 2007. It’s called “Only With Love” and it’s available on Amazon. Just search “Barry Barnes Only With Love” Or you can just click here. this is a picture of my album cover for my cd "Only With Love"

I also have a book on Amazon that I wrote to help people to get through the grieving process after losing a loved one. The book is called, “My Pet Letter from Heaven”. Here is a link.

Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God?

Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God?

Why should we seek first the Kingdom of God?
Why should we even care?
What is it all about?
Well… it’s all about Jesus.
“Oh no”, you say… not another Christian!
I hear you… I know what you mean. I love Jesus…  but Christians? … not so much.
Actually Christians and the so called “Church” at large are probably the greatest objections for most people considering following Jesus.
But Jesus never intended to start a religion. Especially a religious machine such as the Christian religion became in such a short time. The “Church” was supposed to be the example of what it was to be like Jesus… and it was… at least it was for the first few hundred years. “They will know you are Christian by your love.”

The first Christians were all about loving others and imitating Jesus to the point of dying for their beliefs. What made them do that. I believe it was all about the “Good News”. Not the so called “Good News” we hear about today.

Today we here that if we do this and obey that law or rule and don’t sin… and so on and so on… then we can have ticket to Heaven and free “get out of Hell” card.

The Real Good News

That is not what Jesus was about. He never tried to “fix” anyone from the outside in. He fixed people from the inside out by coming under them and just loving them the way they were.

Take for instance, the Samaritan woman that Jesus met at the well. She told Jesus about her sins and he told her he already knew all about them but he didn’t tell her she had to go fix her life and then he would help her. No, he said that he had the water of life and freely offered it to her to drink. “Just drink of this water and you will never thirst again”.

But the typical Christian today wants to point to your sins and tell you that you need to change or you are going to Hell. What kind of love is that?

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God… and the Kingdom of God looks like Jesus.

Models of Fisher-Price Baby Bouncers

Models of Fisher-Price Baby Bouncers

There are so many different models of Fisher-Price Baby Bouncers available. How can one make an educated decision in purchasing the right one for their child or grandchild in my case.

For example, you have the plain and least expensive Geo Meadow Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer. Even this model comes with a toy bar and vibrating feature now.

I remember our first Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer did not have either of these features. It was just a plain bouncer seat that you could set up on the dining room table so your child or grandchild as the case may be, could watch as you prepared supper or performed other tasks around the house.

But now, not only can you get the toy bar and the vibrator, for just $10 more you can also add music and a special cushiony seat with the Luminosity Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer.

But, hold on now, add still another $10 and you can purchase the “Fun & Fold” Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer which not only folds up for ease of travel and storage but also features an automatic soothing vibrator that begins as soon as you set your child in the extra soft seat.

I could go on and on but I’m sure you get the idea by now. You can go all the way up to over a hundred dollars if you want to spend that much. But is the most expensive one the best on for your child or grandchild?

Read the Reviews

Perhaps not. You might be surprised to find out that different babies absolutely love different models of Fisher-Price Baby Bouncers over other models… and there is no accounting for their tastes.

I strongly suggest that you read the reviews on Amazon before making your purchase. Especially read the one star reviews. You have to account for the fact that you just can’t please some people and that sometimes Fisher-Price, like Ford & GM produces a “lemon” on their assembly line.

But for the most part, you can learn a lot from the reviews. And remember, if you can find it at Walmart, buy it there because, if by chance your baby isn’t happy with it… you can take it back and get a different one.

Thank you for visiting. -God bless.

Do Dogs Go To Heaven or Not?

Do Dogs Go To Heaven or Not?

It has been brought to my attention that the debate is still not resolved. Do dogs go to Heaven or not. There seems to be some doubt among the believers and some hope among the unbelievers. This reminds me very little of the debate that is going on right now between the Democrats and the Republicans. Not to mention… the Church.
The so called Church, in my humble opinion is the main stumbling block. At least the Church that is most recognized by the general public. The one that proclaims what is right and what is wrong. The Church that proclaims what is sin and what is not sin. In my opinion, the people of the church have decided for the most part that there are some sins that are much worse than others and should be outlawed. These would be the sins of other people outside the church mostly. Since the divorce rate, for example, is highest among all those so called Christian people who go to church. they have conveniently decided to ignore that sin. And along with that sin they have also chosen to let greed, lust and adultery slide as long as they try to hide it as much as possible. But don’t even think about gay marriage. That is a definite no no. So, do dogs go to Heaven or not. What’s really funny (or not) is that the Bible is full of passages that talk about divorce, greed, lust and adultery but there is not one verse in the Bible that talks about gay marriage.
What’s up with that. Well, the Christians don’t want to talk about the log in their eye when it is much more convenient to condemn the splinter in someone elses.

Bible Verse of the Day – Luke 1:1-4

Bible Verse of the Day – Luke 1:1-4

Welcome to my Bible Verse of the Day – Luke 1:1-4 Bible study. I would like to start with the Book of Luke. It is the third book in the New Testament. I have to tell you first off that is will not be your typical Bible Study. I like to take one verse at a time and really chew on it. As you see, my first “Bible verse of the day” is actually 4 verses.

But these 4 verses will probably fill more than four posts on this blog. I’m not going to be too concerned with how long it takes to study any particular verse and I may expand into other areas as I get into the word. This translation is the New International Version.

This is not the first written account

1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

It is generally accepted that Luke was indeed the author of this book. In fact it is generally agreed that Luke authored both Luke and Acts as a two volume work. We can’t be absolutely sure this is true but one indication that this is so is that no one who lived around that period in time disputes the fact.

What is the significance of this writing?

We can’t be absolutely sure when the book of Luke was written either but it was probably written between 60 and 70 ad. Luke makes note that he is writing about “things that have been fulfilled among us”. Although Luke wasn’t a disciple or actual eyewitness, he was in contact with those who had seen Jesus after he had been risen from the dead.

The fact that someone had risen from the dead was, of course, quite significant. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 15, “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas,[b] and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.”
