What is the meaning of life and why are we here?
Just imagine that there is a mysterious black box with all the answers to “What is the meaning of life” hidden inside. But we can’t see what’s inside the box of course. It’s a mystery as to what could be inside the box. The word wisdom means insight… or to see on the inside. If we could see the meaning of life on the inside of the box, we would have insight… or wisdom. Unless someone tells us what is on the inside of the box, we can only guess what is the meaning of life. If I can come up with a good enough theory about what is the meaning of life, you might believe I know what is inside the box and you might say I have wisdom. You might call me wise.
If we listen to the most recent wisdom of many brilliant scientist and philosophers, there is no meaning. We are just the accidental result of a “Big Bang”. The whole universe was once the size of a baseball (or maybe even a pin head).
And then… BANG!!!… the pin head exploded and thus began life as we know it. Everything began to expand and is still expanding to this day… creating all the cosmos… solar systems, galaxies, suns, stars, moons, planets, etc. (Never mind where the pin head came from or why it exploded.) And just by accident, our earth was the perfect environment for some lifeless, thoughtless, consciousness-less embryonic goo to evolve into the intelligent beings that we are today.
This is wisdom?
Then why even ask the question,”What is the meaning of life?”. If this wisdom of the world is the truth, then there is no meaning. Life is absurd! This is all just an accident. Many, so called, “intelligent” people ascribe to worldly wisdom so as this.
To them, this is wise.
But to believe that an intelligent, loving, God created people in his own image… that is foolishness!
I admit that it is hard to believe. It was hard for me to believe also… that is until I realized that Jesus was real. It all comes back to Jesus. Once you accept the historical fact that Jesus lived, was crucified and then rose again from the dead… you have to step back and say, “Whoa! Wait a minute. If that is true, maybe I should pay more attention to what Jesus and his followers had to say.
Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”[c]
20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
So, do dogs go to Heaven? In this world it is foolish to believe that our dogs go to Heaven… so in God’s world it is wise.
