What Is Truth?

What is truth?

Imagine the secret of life was lock away in a big black box. It is a mystery.
Unless we have some insight into what is in the box, we can only guess.
If my guess about the secret of life makes sense to you, you might say that I am wise.
I might guess that once upon a time, long ago all the matter that now comprises the universe was all compacted into a space the size of a pinhead. And then… it exploded. A really huge explosion that is still going on today and that is why the universe keeps expanding on and on. And after that explosion, this planet we call Earth slowly cooled off and it just so happened that all the right ingredients were brought together in one place and life just began from a single cell that has slowly evolved into the multiplicity we now refer to as humanity. Everything is just an accident… no rhyme or reason. That is wisdom to the world.

To believe in a supreme being who created man in his own image is considered foolishness by the world.

What is truth?

How can we know what is truth? How can we reveal the mystery of the black box?

Let’s take a look at I Corinthians 2:6-7, 10-11

God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit
6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

And also I Corinthians 3:18-20

18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”[a]; 20 and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
